A good race in Courchevel… unfortunately without any “points”…

Last week, I also got to make my debut on the “l’Éclipse” course in Courchevel, France - the 2023 World Championship downhill course. It became clear early on that the weather would play a negative role in these World Cup races. Unfortunately, we were only able to complete one training run to preserve the course.
Fortunately, the weather cleared up overnight from Thursday to Friday, so the downhill was moved up. I finished the race in a disappointing 31st place, 4 hundredths of a second behind the points. Just before the third intermediate time, I hit the key section—where the snowcat had groomed the course across the track on Thursday—too far on the outside. As a result, the soft snow unfortunately slowed me down, causing me to lose a few tenths of a second that I couldn’t make up for by the finish. “That’s racing…”
Apart from that mistake, though, I’m satisfied with my run…even though it bothers me to have missed out on more World Cup points. On Sunday, I’m already heading to Austria, where the races for the European Cup finals await me.
With sporting regards
Livio
